Paw Tree Pet food

Why did I make the switch from homemade dog food to PawTree?

Last summer, my best friend's 13-year-old golden retriever, Tucker, was very ill. It seemed that Tucker was coming to the end of his life. Linda had her other dogs on PawTree; she decided to take tucker off of his raw diet to start him on PawTree Salmon recipe and the Core4 supplements. Six months later, at Tucker's yearly vet appointment, he received good news meaning all his blood work returned to normal. After Linda shared this news with me, I ordered my first 30 pounds of the Lamb recipe and the Core4 supplements. It has been three months since I switched my pack of poodles from homemade food to Pawtree. My poodles are doing quite well on their new diet.

5 Favorite Frozen Doggie Treats

5 Easy Frozen Treats for Summer Heat

I love serving my poodle pack icy cold treats during the summer heat. Frozen treats are always served outside. The poodle's favorite summer treat is watermelon! When I'm slicing a watermelon they all sit around me watching & waiting for the first hand out! I hope your fur babies love these frozen treats as much as mine do! ENJOY!!

  1. Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil with a Blueberry

1. Use a silicone ice cube tray

2. Melt the coconut oil

3. Use a turkey baster to put the melted coconut oil in the ice cube tray about half full

4. Add a frozen or maybe two blueberries to the center of each cube

5. Put the ice cube tray in the freezer for about 30 minutes

6. Once the coconut oil is solid again remove from the tray, store in a plastic bag or container in the frig.

2. Doggie Ice Cream

What you will need:

1-quart whole milk organic  yogurt
2 bananas
1/2 cup natural peanut butter

Place all ingredients in a blender if you do not have a blender use a mixer.

Blend or mix until ingredients are all blended together

Pour into small 2 oz containers then store in the freezer

3. Pumpkin, Yogurt & Banana

Slice the bananas about 1/4" thick

1. Put pumpkin in the bottom of the silicone tray

2. Next add the whole milk organic yogurt on top of the pumpkin

3. Place the banana slice on top, push down with a little pressure so the ingredients settle into the mold

4. Freeze for about 4 hours then remove from mold, store in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to a month.

5. Serve frozen.

4. Frozen Chicken Broth with an Apple Slice

1. Homemade chicken stock or organic chicken stock

2. Slice apple then cut each slice in half

3. Place apple into 2 oz container

4. Pour stock over apple

5. Freeze for about 4 hours

6. Remove from container & store in freezer bag in the freezer

7. Serve frozen

5. Ice Cold Watermelon

I share watermelon with my pack every time I have watermelon! Watermelon is a great way to keep you and your pack hydrated on a very hot day.

Favorite Pictures of My First Standard Poodle

Puppy Winston

The last five and a half years have been very busy! I started out with one poodle, Winston. Look how cute he was as a puppy!!!

 Winston

Winston was my first poodle love! He was and is the sweetest puppy/dog I have ever owned. From the day I met him he had my heart.

I took my mom with me to meet little puppy boy who was called Kade at that time. I made sure I left my cash, debit card, and checkbook at home so I would keep my word to myself. ( give me 24 hours to think about having a puppy again ) Kade was so gentle, quiet and sweet, I knew I wanted him but I couldn't "buy" him that moment. My mom was shocked at my willingness to wait, she wanted me to take him home with us. When I left the breeder I told her I would call her the next day to let her know for sure what I planned to do. Twenty-four hours later I called the breeder to make arrangements to pick up my puppy, Winston. And that is how it began!

Here are a few of my favorite photos/videos of Winston:

The top 3  reasons I love my standard poodles

1.Their Curls

I love their curly hair because I have straight hair like a 1970's flower child. Each one of my poodles has a different type of curls. Mia has very wooly tight tight curls which are the easiest to groom. Eva and her daughter Gracie have tight curls but their hair is less wooly which makes it fluffy. And the boys, Winston and Jackson have the softest feeling hair, their curls are tight but more open than the girls.

2. Their Cleverness

I love how intelligent they are, makes them easier to train. Eva has figured out how to open 3 baby gates. Jackson can open all the interior doors in the house, so he can get out of the room or into the room if we don't lock the door. I know that one of his puppies, Reuben,  also does this trick. Winston has worked in a pediatric office with children who are getting shots, he loved being with the little ones while they were a little afraid. Gracie is very obedient and she is amazing at recall. The only time she has trouble listening is when there is a bird in the yard. Mia is a great retriever on the land and in the water. Every morning she brings a ball to me or my husband, Mia is always ready to fetch.

3. Their Companionship

My pack of poodles are the best companions. My husband & I have been empty-nesters for the last 5 years so having the poodles has helped filled the gap. The poodles follow me from room to room all day long which is wonderful 98% of the time. If I go outside, they go outside, if I go swimming they go swimming (all but Gracie she hates the pool), when I watch TV, Gracie & Jackson join me while the others take a nap.
